Streamline plastic disposal process, says ecologist

MYSURU: A strong determination is required to protect our environment, said ecologist U Ravikumar. Inaugurating the World Earth Day celebration, organized by Rural Literacy and Health Programme, an NGO working for the education of slum children, at the Institute of Engineers on Wednesday, Ravikumar rued the practice of cutting trees in the name of development. “This is causing an ecological imbalance as not much saplings are being planted. The exploitation of natural resources should also be stopped,” he said.

Streamline plastic disposal process, says ecologist

Ravikumar termed as “not a good sign” the practice of setting on fire garbage in Mysuru. “This in turn harms mother earth. Plastic disposal should be streamlined. Otherwise, it would pose a threat to the environment,” he said.

Earlier, a bicycle rally was taken out from the north gate of Mysuru Palace to JLB Road.

Poster competition

Regional Museum of Natural History organized a poster-making competition at its premises on Wednesday. Santhosh, a student of Sadvidya School, secured the first place.
